Ballston Spa is a village in Saratoga County. The population is around 6000 and it's also the county seat of Saratoga County. It lies on the border of two towns and is partly in the Town of Ballston and partly in the Town of Milton. It's just southwest of Saratoga Springs and NY 50 connects the two directly. with SPAC in between the two municipalities. It is named after the mineral water and baths just like Saratoga Springs, the Spa City. But to most people, the local ground water is not too tasty and hard on the plumbing. One thing, it has some of the cheaper gasoline prices around on the stations along NY 50 & 67. It is also the proud home of the National Bottle Museum. Though it doesn't directly border the Northway, it can be accessed from Exits 13 through 11, depending on which part of town you want or direction you are heading. Though the formal exit would be Exit 12, NY Route 67. Still, Exit 13 allows for easier access to center because you can bypass those horrid traffic circles and traffic on NY 67. Old Post Road, the light just north of Exit 13 on US 9, will take you to Northline Road and Malta Avenue. Malta Avenue west leads right into the heart of the village center, following the Kayderosseras Creek. |
